Interface converter USB-RS485/422

The compact single-channel USB-RS485/422 interface converter is designed to convert a USB interface (USB 1.1, USB 2.0) into an RS-422/485 interface. In the RS-422 interface, the converter provides a duplex mode of data exchange over a 4-wire cable, in RS-485 - a half-duplex mode of data exchange over a 2-wire cable.

Data lines, control signals and power supply circuits of the RS-422/485 interfaces are galvanically isolated from the converter controller, which ensures protection of the computer or hub from damage in case of accidental high voltage in the circuits of the RS-422/485 interfaces. The insulation voltage is 1000 V. The data lines of the RS-422/485 interfaces are protected against induced high-voltage impulse (spark) discharges and interference with a voltage of up to 2000 V.

The converter is powered from the host controller (computer system unit) or from a USB hub with an internal power source.

The converter is connected to the system unit of the computer or to the USB hub using the USB-B connector. Peripheral equipment with an RS-422/485 interface is connected via a DB-9 connector.

Switching the RS-422/485 interfaces and connecting the ballast resistor of the line is carried out by switches on the electronic board of the converter.

The converter is equipped with three LEDs:

• Green - receiving data via the RS-422/485 interface;
• Red - data transmission via the RS-422/485 interface;
• Yellow - presence of supply voltage +5V.
